A day’s excellent Oasising at King’s Lynn Pride culminated in a beautifully formed bijou little Oasis featuring Lilly’s Little Quiz to round the day off.
What happened to Carole’s Big Quiz, as advertised? Well Carole was one of many Oasisers who are under the weather this month, and who were sadly missing. Fortunately I didn’t have to look too far to find a big show off, who loves the role of Quiz Compare …..Me!
August’s Oasis, held on Saturday, August 19th 2023 proved that our meetings don’t always need to be big and bold. Sometimes little and sweet can be big fun too. It is always a delight to chat and catch up with our big friends and turn little friendships into big ones. On this occasion, we also had the big pleasure of welcoming our new member Jane. Well done Jane.
After a little bite to eat and a chance to recharge our batteries, a lively and intellectually charged atmosphere descended upon the hall as participants gathered for an enthralling confrontation known as Lilly’s Little Quiz.
LLQ, with a diverse range of questions provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their knowledge and camaraderie. ‘Spitfire’, ‘The Young Ones’, and ‘The Unforgotten’ battled it out to emerge victorious in a big battle of brains. Big stuff.
From Reasons to be Cheerful to the influence of the harpsichord on Baroque music, from a Strictly winner to William Tindall, our quiz lurched from subject to subject until ‘The Young Ones’ emerged with their hand aloft, donning the victory garlands and basking in the big glory.
As the evening drew to a close, participants left with smiles on their faces, having shared an intellectually stimulating and enjoyable experience. We showcased the power of collective knowledge but also reinforced the idea that learning is a lifelong journey best pursued in the company of Oasisers.
