On Saturday 19th October 2024 Oasis celebrated those amazing things …… people. People as we know, come in all sorts of wonderful colours, shapes and sizes, and can be complex beasties. Naturally we looked at the world with a pink, blue and white hue as we explored the intersection of Transgender folk and neurodiversity with a workshop lead by Rhian.
Studies show that neurodiverse people are three to six times more likely to identify as transgender. Food for thought. We would like to thank everyone who so willingly contributed to the an enlightening conversion by sharing their own life experiences. We learnt so much.

Throughout the evening our little kitchen was a veritable hive of activity. A very special thanks go to Alice, who is the best second lieutenant ever. Alice’s calm ‘can do’ approach ensured that dinner and pudding were served hot in a smooth and efficient manner; plus working with Carole, whizzed through the washing up in a flash. Other ‘can doers’ and washerupers included Emma, Barbara, Rebecca and our very own ‘tail end Jaqui’, Jaqui. Simply brilliant. The biggest thank you goes to all of you who gave so much of yourselves to the meeting.

Our colourful evening asked colourful questions. What is it with Oasis, you are always asking questions? Are you an extrovert or an introvert? Are you a thinker or are feelings the most important to you? Are you fiery red, cool blue, earth green or sunshine yellow? Put that together, you have yourself a personality model. More questions; what happens when a extrovert feeler meets a introverted thinker? A colourful melange no doubt. Final question for now, where do those Oasis evening go?
The clock beat us and in a flash it was time for our finale. Serena closed the meeting by performing a beautiful poem titled ‘Live Life In Colour’ from Poems Of Positivity by Daniel Thompson. This beautiful and uplifting book is available from Amazon using this link; and there are definitely other book sellers out there, some with really nice cafes!
To round off a busy Oasis week, a clutch of Oasis fashionistas spent a delightful evening with the personal stylists at the John Lewis Store in Norwich. Thank you to Serena, Rachel, Steph, Lauren, Phyliss, Rebecca and Jane for supporting the event and to Andrea and Chrissy of JL, for being such kind inspirational hosts.
What next in the Oasisiverse? We have our visit to the Neatishead Radar Museum, our Girlfawkes Sausage and Mash Oasis on 16th November and our TDoR Film Festival on 20th November.
Nature offers a stunning palette, from the fiery oranges and pinks of a sunset to the lush greens and deep blues of forests and oceans; when these colours come together in harmony you have Oasis. Something rather special; we hope you agree. No more questions, class dismissed.
