Girl Fawkes, I’m Girl Fawkes, I’m Girl Fawkes, I’m Girl Fawkes, I’m Girl Fawkes …. on Saturday 16th at our November Oasis an army of Girl Fawkes’ lit up the night with fiery rebellion! But then — cue a sudden cut to another scene— there they were, V for Vendette, lurking in the shadows. A shiver of anarchy rippled through the air. What could be done?
“I’ve got it!” declared Girl, “Put up the Bat Signal! Help is on the way!”
And just like that—POW! WHAM!—faster than you can say “Holy Sausage and Mash”, she arrived. Batgirl! Our caped crusader swooped in to save the day! The crowd cheered, but questions lingered. Where was Robin? And just who was V for Vendetta?

Before we could solve the mystery, the spotlight shifted again. Entering stage left was a figure steeped in history and defiance: Joan of Arc, fresh from a break in her eternal battle against English oppression. “Please, no mention of bonfires tonight,” she said with a wary glance.
But then, a booming voice interrupted.
“Did someone say English tyranny?!” shouted Willomina Wallace, claymore raised high. “They may take our liberty bodices, but they’ll never take our FREEDOM!” Her words rang out like a battle cry, igniting another wave of cheers.
And just as we caught our breath, the world transformed once more. Suddenly, we were whisked away to a magical fairyland. HanselGretel wandered through the enchanted woods, led by the twinkling lights of their gingerbread dreams. And who should join them but Mother Christmas herself, bringing warmth, wonder, and a sprinkle of holiday magic.

Where did all these Girl Fawkes’ spring from? From the wonderful imagination of the Oasis Makers and Creators. Facilitated by the ever resourceful Tina, who always goes that extra mile or two, we set our super talented artists the challenge of making their very own Girl Fawkes from a cardboard, glue, glitter, paint, marker pens, material, wool and anything else that they could lay their hands on. And were we disappointed? No of course not … Oasis never disappoints. Picked by Girl herself, our winners were Lauren, Sue, Georgie, Joan D’Arc and our very own Tina! Such fun thank you Tina.
As many of you know our November meeting always celebrated Girl Fawkes Night with Sausage and Mash, which this year was once again was provided by super special sausage chef Rachel, who worked a minor miracle in our tiny kitchen. Oh in her spare time(?), Tina provided a tremendously tasty trifle
Oh what a night! Rebellion, heroes, history, and a touch of enchantment—we had it all. Who knows where the next adventure will take us?
Each month our little meeting place is transformed from a plain and simple room into a vibrant hubbub of friendship, kindness, inspiration and creativity. This doesn’t happen on it’s own, but each month the Oasis Fairy waves their magic wand and the Oasis Elves do the rest, so thank you Oasis Elves one and all, whether you put up the tables, put away the chairs, did the washing-up, boiled the kettles, dried the dishes, swept the floor …. you get the picture .. to everyone who pitched in, thank you, thank you. The Oasis collective spirt is such a powerful force for good.

See you on Saturday 14th December 2025 (note the 2nd Saturday!), when we will celebrate Christmas and the lives of the dynamic duo Dr. Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket. Time to break out your twinset and pearls and fingers crossed, Jules and Claire will be with us to lead us in a few carols.
See you then
Lilly x
