At last hurrah! Boing, boing, boing bouncing baby lambs. Now this addition of Oasis Times is a bit date heavy, you’d better have a pen and your diary ready, this is in vaguely chronologic order.
Norwich TransPride are planning a celebration of Transgender Day of Visibility on Sunday 30th March 2025 which will include a special banner. More details of the TDoV festivities will follow.
TrueColours of Lowestoft are a wonderful group, supporting members of the LGBTQI+ community in the east of our region, meeting on the 1st Thursday of each month, in Lowestoft. TrueColours are always busy organising events and Oasis recommends connecting with them on Instagram or asking to be added to their mailing list by emailing on truecolours.low@gmail.com. I will be attending TrueColours on Thursday 6th March 2025.
Ahoy Suffolk folk! Oasis have been working with The Outhouse and The Ipswich Trans & Non Binary Group, to provide more support for our community in Suffolk. We are delighted to announce the support group created by The Outhouse in Ipswich, will continue into 2025. The meetings will take place on the afternoon of 2nd Saturday of each month from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm; with meetings scheduled for Saturday 8th March, Saturday 12th April, etc. The meetings are held at The Whitton Clinic, Meredith Road, Ipswich, IP1 6ED, with free entry. See you there!
Oasis Meetings are always held during the evening of 3rd Saturday of the month ……. except when there’re not!! Our March meeting will take place in it’s customary spot of Saturday 15th March but our April meeting is a week early on Saturday 12th April, due to an extraordinarily late Easter and our wish to avoid Easter Saturday. Please take note, we don’t want you turning up on the wrong day.
Splish Splash Taking A Swim. Yo Oasis swimmers, fancy a dip? If so, you are in luck, as Sophie from The LGBT Project has just the event for you, on Sunday, March 23rd from 6-8 pm at the Sport-A-Peel pool in Wells. The event is for trans, non-binary and gender questioning adults, age 18+. Tickets for the event are £2.50 each and can be purchased on Eventbrite or by emailing Sophie on sophie@lgbtqproject.org.uk.
During our October Oasis we explored the subject of Neurodiversity with Rhian. At the end of the all too brief session we promised that we would revisit the subject, allowing more time to explore and discuss. On Sunday 6th April from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Oasis will deliver on the promise. Rhian will lead a Workshop on Neurodiversity at The MIND REST Hub in the centre of Norwich. Please put this important date in your diary and look out for the invitation arriving in your inbox at the end of March.
NEW Oasis Drop-Ins NEW We constantly strive to make Oasis more accessible and as such we are delighted to announce the concept of an Oasis Drop-In. From May onwards, on the 2nd Thursday of the month, we will be starting Drop-In sessions in both Norwich and King’s Lynn from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday 8th May 2025. To facilitate our sessions in Norwich, Oasis are partnering with Norfolk and Waveney MIND, and NHS Talking Therapies.
The Norwich Drop-In with Lilly, will take place at Holland Court, The Close, Norwich, NR1 4DY, and
The King’s Lynn Drop-In with Theresa at Marley’s Café next to Asda in South Wootton, 2 Langley Rd, King’s Lynn PE30 3UB.
A Drop-In launch event and Wellbeing ‘Champion’ Training with Norfolk and Waveney MIND, and NHS Talking Therapies will take place on Thursday 17th April at Holland Court, The Close, Norwich, NR1 4DY. Look out for more details. What can you loose? Coffee, tea and biscuits are on Oasis!!
