💖 On Saturday 19th July 2025, Oasis were absolutely thrilled to welcome Phil and Shelley from Frobishers Wigs of Ipswich, who shared their the history of their company, top tips, styles, wig care and described a typical visit to their shop in Ipswich.

💖 What really stood out was Phil and Shelley’s genuine care, expert knowledge and attention to detail. It was clear Frobishers philosophy in not just about sales, it is about empowering people to feel fabulous and seen. For many of our members, trying on a wig isn’t just a bit of fun; it’s a moment of affirmation and joy. The team at Frobishers truly understood that. We can’t thank Frobishers enough for their sensitivity, professionalism, and generosity. Here are some top wig tips learnt during Phil and Shelley’s presentation,
- 💖 Wash Gently and Infrequently. Wigs don’t need to be washed as often as natural hair. Aim to wash your wig after every 8–10 wears, or sooner if there’s noticeable build up. Use lukewarm water and a wig-specific shampoo. Gently swish the wig; never scrub or wring.
- 💖 Use Wig-Friendly Products Only. Avoid regular hair products, as they can damage the fibres of both synthetic and human hair wigs. Instead, use specially formulated wig shampoo, conditioner, and de-tangling sprays.
- 💖 De-tangle with Care. Use a wide-tooth comb or wig brush, starting from the ends and working your way up. Always de-tangle before and after wearing to avoid matting and knots, especially at the nape of the neck.
- 💖 Store Properly. When not in use, store your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to help maintain its shape. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and damp areas.
- 💖 Avoid Heat (Unless Heat-Friendly). Most synthetic wigs can’t handle heat, so avoid hairdryers, straighteners, or curling irons unless your wig is labelled as heat-resistant. Human hair wigs can be styled with heat, but always use a heat protectorate.
- 💖 Rotate. If you wear wigs regularly, it’s a great idea to have more than one. Rotating your wigs reduces wear and tear, gives each wig time to air out between wears, and lets you switch up your style without extra effort!
A huge thank you to all our amazing members who filled the evening with laughter, love, sunshine and for providing a wonderful spread of edible treats. Our food table was groaning under the weight of the offering. Here’s to hair joy, scrumptious food, and the beautiful mosaic we’re lucky to call Oasis. 🌸💖🌿
Long Live Oasis! See you in August; we have first appearances at Thetford and Ely Prides and a visit to our old friends in King’s Lynn .
Much Love

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
I wanted to change my hair.
(Or so I claim…)
But styling it?
A crying shame.
It flopped. It frizzed.
It would not behave.
So I gave up
And dug its grave.
But then,
A light! A spark! A thrill!
Hair appeared… that fits the bill.
A curly long blonde bob?
Oh yes, that’s me.
The next day? Curls …
I’m wild and free!
By Friday night, I’m platinum blonde,
With lashes long and gaze… beyond.
Each day, a vibe. Each look, a mood.
A full-blown fashion interlude!
But friends,
Hair has a mind, and tricks to play.
I wore one out… on a blustery day.
The wind picked up,
My head felt light,
And there it went…
My hair took flight!
It soared like falcons, free and bold,
A sight to make a mother scold.
A child gasped. A dog took chase.
My hair flew off…
And slapped a face.
I ran. I dove. I claimed my prize.
Because hair is joy. Hair is flair.
A crown you choose, a bit of dare.
And when they say,
“That’s not your hair…”
You say:
“Darlings, it’s a mood.
And I’ve got spares.”
