At our meeting on Saturday 17th January 2026 from 7:00 pm, Oasis was absolutely delighted to welcome Katie and JoJo from The Bald Box. Katie and JoJo didn’t come alone, they bought with them Ruby The Red, Hallie The Long , Aria The Blonde, Carrie The Cap, Tara The Turban and many of other incredible friends.
Katie and JoJo are two of the amazing founders of The Bald Box, and they told us their story. We heard how Katie, Jess, and JoJo, three friends who all experienced breast cancer, created The Bald Box to help women facing or living with sudden hair loss. The Bald Box offers women a starting point for living with hair loss and provides great value for money. They described coping strategies that help their clients navigate what are often very traumatic moments in their lives.
Oasis is incredibly grateful to Katie and JoJo for joining us for the evening and for giving us the opportunity to learn more about their wonderful work in supporting people who experience hair loss to feel confident, visible, and empowered. Wigs are a important part of the lives of many Oasis members and the insight offered by The Bald Box was oh so valuable. After Katie and JoJo’s presentation, a delightful conversation ensued, with lots of helpful advice, hint and tips, with many members making wise purchases.
The visit of visit of The Bald Box marked a special addition to Oasis, We treasured the warmth, insight, companionship and inspiration they brought to our community.
Oasis is family. Families eat together, and each month that’s what our Oasis family do. For many years dinner at Oasis was synonymous with Vicky, who has cooked for our group many times; so it was a trill to welcome Vicky back to our little kitchen. Vicky provided a scrumptious Italian meal. We enjoyed pasta with three sauces, including our usual vegetarian option, followed by Italian Roll topped by scrumptious double cream. Thank you Vicky!
At Family Oasis, we are always delighted to see our family grow, and we were thrilled to welcome Adiva and Mae from deepest Suffolk, and Toni, to their first meetings. Oasis folk are clearly made of strong stuff, with many travelling far and wide to spend the evening with us. Huge love to Kitty, Janet and Sam trekking in from Lincolnshire, and to Lauren emerging from darkest Cambridgeshire. Whether you’ve travelled miles to get to Oasis or simply wandered down the road, your commitment to the Oasis clan means the world to us.
As ever, a special round of applause for our washer-uppers especially Serena and Hilary were absolute stars this month, with Vicky performing her usual magic trick of washing up as she goes. Extra gold stars too for Emma-Jane and Billie and their top-tier setting-up skills. Did I say Thank You Vicky? Thank You Vicky. Thank You Bald Box. Oh, and the car park attendant was pretty cool.
Love and thanks to everybody who contributed to a super-duper evening.
We look forward to you joining us again on 21st February when we welcome you and Queer, Joy, Movement to Lilly and Rhian’s soup night. An unmissable evening, so don’t miss it!
Love
Lilly
