March Oasis 2026 – Waveney Foodbank Curries No Favour

Oasis was absolutely delighted to welcome the wonderfully charismatic Matt Scade from Waveney Foodbanks on Saturday 21st March 2026; and what a visit it turned out to be!

Matt didn’t simply drop by for a polite hello; he brought with him insight, honesty, and a real passion for community support. Through stories, humour, and heartfelt examples, he opened our eyes to the vital work Waveney Foodbank do every single day. We learned how donations travel from supermarket baskets to carefully prepared food parcels, and how volunteers work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure local people facing crisis are met not just with food, but with dignity, compassion, and hope. Matt explained why foodbanks remain such an essential lifeline; supporting individuals and families experiencing sudden hardship, rising living costs, or unexpected life challenges. More than just providing emergency supplies, Waveney Foodbanks help people stabilise their situation, connect with wider support services, and feel less alone during difficult times. His presentation reminded us all how powerful community kindness can be when people come together to look after one another.

And after feeding our minds, it was time to feed our stomachs. As if by magic, Oasis transformed into its very own curry house! Chefs Rhian and Lilly stepped up to the challenge, and they most certainly did not disappoint. While curry may not always be everyone’s first choice, you would never have guessed it on Saturday evening. Plates were filled, seconds were claimed quickly, and the room was alive with happy chatter. Our culinary dream team concocted a mouth-watering selection of mild but irresistibly tasty dishes: a rich beef madras, creamy butter chicken, fragrant Thai green vegetable curry, and Lilly’s legendary in her own life time, special cauliflower veggie curry. All were served with generous helpings of fluffy rice, warm naan bread, and a colourful array of chutneys to add just the right amount of magic and spice.

We always love welcoming new members to Oasis, we welcome Robyn and Steff and Ella to our little tribe. Welcome old and new, you are all reasons to be cheerful …………….
