In the whirlwind of Oasis’s bustling year, Oasis closed with a week that sparkled with festive fervour. Picture this: on the enchanting Tuesday of December 12th, a merry band of twenty-five members descended upon The Old Feathers, transforming it into a haven of holiday joy for the Oasis Christmas Meal. But the festivities didn’t stop there. Come Saturday, the 16th of December, twenty-plus Oasis enthusiasts engaged in a battle of wits at Carole’s Quizmas extravaganza. Were enthralled by Andrea’s mesmerizing photography skills and lured by the tempting spoils of our Christmas raffle, we concluded the year on a high note.
Now, let’s delve into the numbers that paint the vibrant canvas of our Oasis year. A whopping 161 subscribers grace our website. Our meetings witnessed the presence of 46 Oasis members, with 18 embarking on their inaugural Oasis rendezvous. Not to forget the 13 partners and the 27 friends and family who graced us with their company, bringing our grand total to 86. We’re going to need a bigger hall….and a bigger car park!
Oasis is so well named. In a world spinning ever more wildly, Oasis offers a cherished respite — a momentary escape into a realm of friendship and shimmer. The Old Feathers, a sanctuary of tranquillity, treated us to a delectable feast featuring the likes of Timothea Turkey, Stevie Soup, Alan Partridge, Betsy Bass, and Vinny Vegan Option. Though perhaps Sydney Stuffing needed to visit the naughty step; we’ve got our eye on you Sydney!
Our Saturday meeting was a whirlwind, a frenzy of activity that included the much-anticipated Carole’s Big Quiz, a captivating presentation of Andrea’s photographic journey, and a spirited raffle for Crisis At Christmas. As the clock raced, there was a palpable risk of our carriages turning back into pumpkins.
A resounding round of applause for Carole, the maestro behind our varied, intriguing, and downright challenging quiz. The Pens emerged victorious, relegating the other three teams to a joint second place. A bigger podium? Well, that might be in order too!

Andrea, with grace and courage, led us through the poignant tapestry of her life as a photographer, showcasing her evolution and her battle with cancer. Thank you, Andrea, for sharing your incredible journey.
Our raffle, dedicated to Crisis At Christmas, raised an impressive £76 for the charity. Kudos to everyone who contributed prizes and bought tickets. Special thanks to Billie for her unexpected and heart warming Billie Prizes — a gesture that touched our hearts.
Amidst the laughter, the feast, and the custard-coated mince pies, a heartfelt thank you echoes for the set-up and clean-up crews. Your unwavering support is truly appreciated, making these Oasis moments even more memorable. Cheers to a year filled with joy, respect, kindness, camaraderie, friendship and love; the simple ingredients that combine to make the magic that is Oasis!
Finally a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of Oasis 2023; we’ve a had an amazing year. To all our Oasis members, our partners and our friends, we wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. I look forward to seeing you again of 20th January 2024.
Much Love.
