
The Oasis Times wishes all of our dedicated readers a Happy New Year. Now, we know we are little late with our good wishes, but most of editorial team have only just emerged from their beds …I can’t tell if they have been hibernating or simply recovering from the rather debauched NY Eve party held here at Oasis Mission Control.

February marks LGBT+ History Month, and thanks to the LGBT+ History Club and Queerfest organisers, Norwich will be packed with lots of interesting events during the leap year busting 29 days of the month
Saturday 3rd February at the Millennium Library in The Forum in Norwich, the LGBT+ History Club in collaboration with Norwich Trans Pride, Queer Norfolk & Norfolk Museums, will be collecting on behalf of the Museum of Transology / Trans Pride UK. You will be welcome to make a donation of any Transgender memorabilia you would like to donate to the Museum. The Donation Station will be available throughout day. To find more please click here. We will be making a donation on behalf of Oasis to in the memory of Barbara Ross.
On the same day Queerfest will be holding an Art Market in The Forum, so the place should be a buzz of activity, to find out more please click here.
I will be organising an Oasis get together, kicking off at The Forum, which allows us time to explore the market, before grabbing lunch and spending the afternoon together. Watch this space for the usual email invitation.
Saturday 10th February from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. At the Millennium Library in The Forum, the LGBT+ History Club present iconic 80’s LGBT+ activist, journalist and survivor Paul Burston talking about his book We Can Be Heroes, which chronical Paul’s journey from prejudice to Pride.
Thursday 15th February there will a production of Queers at The Assembly House in Norwich at 7:30pm. These are a selected series of monologues curated by Mark Gatiss, which you may have seen on the BBC iPlayer. This is an amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books and directed by Michelle Hutchings. I will be attending the evening of the 15th, tickets are £8-£12, if you wish to join me, tickets are available here

Saturday 17th February from 2:00 – 5:00pm. At The Assembly House in Norwich come and join Oasis and the Queerfest team for a cup of tea, some cake, games and a chat in the beautiful Novere Rooms.
The event is free to attend, but we are asking you to book – just to ensure we have enough tea! Tickets here.

The amazing Queerfest folk have a variety of other events throughout February, including the Interrupt Art Exhibition from 8th – 24th, a Live Night at the VR Room on Friday 15th and a Film Night on Tuesday 27th. To find our more click here.
If you are looking forward to planning a break there a number of groups specialising weekend breaks for the Transgender Community. In addition to the March Transgender Weekend recently publicised by Beccie, Joanna wishes to bring to our attention an event to be held at The Sibson Inn Hotel nr Peterborough on Thursday 11th April and Friday 15th, by Samantha, Lynne and Janiane, members of the Beaumont Society (the UK oldest Transgender support group). This is a very beautiful part of the world, so if you fancy a couple of days away, making some new friends, please contact Joanna or myself, or send us a message using the contact form on the Oasis website.
