I am constantly overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity, and beautiful spirit that lives within our Oasis community. I feel grateful to be surrounded by such caring and compassionate members who give so much of themselves to one another.
Everyday, I am equally amazed by the brilliant and inspirational people who find their way into Oasis world; extraordinary individuals doing remarkable things, not only for the community at large, but also striving hard to make the world a better place. It is a privilege to share this journey together and to witness the courage, creativity, and love that makes Oasis so special.
Such was our Oasis April when we had the pleasure of spending time with Sally from S&L Self-Harm Distraction Kits and Maria and Val from ReDo Norwich.

On Saturday 18 April 2026, Oasis was delighted to welcome Sally from S&L Self-Harm Distraction Kits to our happy house. S&L Self-Harm Distraction Kits are designed with young people in mind, although they are also suitable for adults. Founder Sally told us her very personal story behind the creation of S&L, a moving tail of fortitude, resilience and survival. Sally pulled no punches as she described how the kits help delay, replace, and reduce the urge to self-harm by offering alternatives, relaxation items, and techniques that encourage healthier coping strategies. Thank you Sally.
During the evening, we held a raffle for S&L, and I’m thrilled to share that Oasis raised £100 to support Sally’s work. She told us the money will help provide free Distraction Kits to schools — a wonderful cause that will make a real difference. Thank you, Oasis, for the amazing prizes (including Kitty’s legendary mystery prizes!) and for everyone’s willingness to dig deep into the long-forgotten corners of your purses and pockets.
Our meal was classic fish and chips from the local chippy, enjoyed with generous lashings of vinegar, red and brown sauce, and followed by wonderfully sticky chocolate brownies lovingly made by Steff. Thank you Theresa for making this all happen.
And, as always, the Oasis genie appeared; magically setting up the room, clearing everything away afterwards, and even tackling the washing up. What did I say about Oasis generosity? Absolutely incredible.

The second part of our April activates took place at the home of ReDo at Carrow House in Norwich of Friday 24th April 2026. We enjoyed a warm welcome from Maria and Val founders of ReDo. Shocked by the tons of material being sent to landfill from the charity sector, together with fellow directors, they founded ReDo in 2019. This initiative has blossomed into the magnificent Unity Centre on the edge of Norwich, opened 18 months ago, which now houses 25 amazing community focused CIC. We enjoyed learning about what we can do to reduce waste and avoid sending clothes to landfill. We also had the opportunity to practice our Sashiko and to rummage through the ReDo stock. What happens at ReDo, stays at ReDo, but I can say money changed hands and clothes were purchased.
See you next month on Saturday 16th May when we welcome Greenpeace to our Oasis Shack. Our meal will be Serena’s Super Sensational Spring Salad – book early to avoid disappointment and don’t forget your jukebox money!
Much Love
Lilly
