On Saturday 18th July 2026, the Oasis gang rolled up their sleeves, sharpened their pencils, took a deep breath and set about creating a series of magnificent self-portraits. Every picture reflected a unique personality, perspective and story, celebrating the wonderful diversity that makes Oasis what it is.
Then came the moment that made everyone hesitate. Under the mischievous direction of our tutor, Lilly, we did the unthinkable …… we cut them all into quarters!
What might have seemed an act of artistic vandalism quickly became something rather magical. Fragments of faces, colours and expressions were carefully shuffled, shared and reassembled, each person contributing a little of themselves to everyone else. Piece by piece, individuality gave way to community, and from the apparent chaos emerged a single, vibrant collage that was greater than the sum of its parts.
The finished artwork, ‘Oasis Forever’, is far more than a portrait. It is a celebration of friendship, creativity and belonging—a visual reminder that while every one of us is unique, together we create something truly extraordinary.
Oasis is such a generous and encouraging space, built on the kindness, warmth and goodwill. Our spirit was on full display as we enjoyed our Members’ Food Night, sharing a delicious feast of savouries and puddings, including the worlds finest bread pudding (thx Jaqui’s bro). As always, there was far more food than anyone could possibly eat, but somehow every contribution found an appreciative tummy.
Equally remarkable is the transformation of our meeting space. As if by magic we create our welcoming haven. Then, at the end of the evening, everything is quietly packed away again, leaving barely a trace that Oasis had ever been there. It is nothing short of an Oasis miracle, made possible by the willing hands and our generous hearts. This month Rebecca was an extra special superstar.
August 15th brings our quizzing night, as we hotfoot it home after our day at King’s Lynn Pride.
