2025 Oasis Programme

Dear Oasis Members, as we reach the end of another year, we are delighted to announce our programme for 2025. We had an amazing Oasis year, and for those who have voyaged with us on the good ship Oasis, we sincerely hope you have enjoyed it too. January 18th – Escape to the Forest
Rachel Kellett, founder of Kinda Forest Schools, will introduce us to the concept of a wonderful school that promotes equality and kindness by deepening reconnection to nature, especially for communities that experience persistent and complex barriers to well-being and socialising.
Food – Lilly’s ever-popular Soup Night
Dress Code – Warm Winter Woolies, do you love a jumper or a jumper dress? I do.

February 8th – Oasis at QueerFest Market Place

February 15th – Age UK Norwich
Age UK is a wonderful supporter of older members of the LQBT Community, including creating a very comprehensive guide full of useful advice on health, rights and well-being. Megan, Amel and Denise from Age UK Norwich, will come and meet us, and talk about how Age UK can help you or members of your family.
Food – Fish and Chips organised by Theresa
Dress Code – Your second-hand specials from an Age UK Charity shop.

Mar 15th – Are You Climate Ready?
Claire Ling, Community Support Officer of Suffolk Climate Change Partnership, will talk us through the strategies currently being implemented by all of Suffolk’s Local Authorities as they work towards the aspiration of making the county of Suffolk carbon neutral by 2030. The will be the opportunity to ask questions and take part in our green quiz with an appropriate green prize.
Food – Lilly’s Curry Night
Dress Code – Something old, something new, something green, nothing blue.

Mar 30th (Sunday) – Neurodiversity Workshop with Rhian

April 12th – ‘Paradox of Ravens’
Our very own keyboard virtuoso Anne (with an ‘e’), together with vocalist Sara, are Paradox of Ravens. They will entertain us with an evening of eighties-inspired electronica, with a mixture of original compositions and ’80s bangers.
For those who are not musically or 80’s inclined, we will invite you to bring along your favourite board games or just have a natter with your friends.
Food – Members Food Night
Dress Code – Wear a classic, perhaps your LBD, something Gothic, something Steam Punk, something Pre-Raphaelite.

May 17th – Makeup with Donna
Former No7 makeup superstar, Donna will give us a makeup tutorial particularly focusing (good pun, err!) on our mince pies.
Don’t miss this. Donna is very good, and we will be looking for volunteers to model. Could it be you?
Food – Serena’s Spring Salad
Dress Code – ‘Make Me Up’ Before You Go-Go, reprise 80’s power dressing.

Jun 21st – Celebrate The Life of Barbara Ross
Barbara Ross formed our wonderful group in 1982 and was awarded her OBE in 2012. Please come and celebrate the life of our founder. Oasis members please put this special date in your diary and hope to welcome Oasis members old and new for a special evening of stories, reminisces and celebration.

We will reprise the films shown at the Oasis TDoR Film Festival and show the finalists (my monies on Andrea!) in the 2025 Oasis Film Competition.

In our traditional summer quiz, teams of four compete in a University Challenge style competition. The School Of Hard Knocks or The University of Life; no matter your alma mater, we promise more brain teasers and stupid questions.

Sept 20th – ‘You know how to Whistle, Don’t You?’
During an evening of fun and sparkle, release your inner Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall as we head to pre-revolution Havana Cuba, into the murky world created by Ernest Hemingway and the film To Have And Have Not’. Madame Serena will reprise her Mocktail bar and we will be joined by Magician Goldie Goldin.

Oct 18th – It’s going to be a Hoot, with Evie’s Owls
Evie and Mark will bring a few of their collection of beautiful birds and will tell us about how they care for their wellbeing. If you would like, you will be able to handle the owls. Evie is a true inspiration, so knowledgeable and passionate about her owls

Nov 15th RNLI – The life of Coxswain Henry Blogg
We will be joined by Jacqui Palmer, manager of the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum in Cromer, and we will hear about Henry’s lifesaving exploits. We will have a raffle and collection for the magnificent RNLI, which remains funded by donations.
Food – Rachel’s Sausage and Mash, Lilly’s Apple Crumble
Dress Code – Something appropriate for the high seas

Dec 13th – Christmas with Frosty The Snowperson
Our usual Christmas frolics with our end-of-year quiz. What sort of year will 2025 bring? If there are two feet of pure white snow, we will have a snowperson building competition in the car park.
Food – Members Food Night with Mince Pies by Oasis
Dress Code – Wrap up warm, we don’t want Frosty to melt
