Sunday 27th June a group of us ladies met at the wonderful East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens, this is a venue a few of us visited last year but was so enjoyable it was certainly worthy of another group outing.
The date of the visit had to be adjusted due to a poor weather forecast, A good decision methinks, lovely warm sunshine in the afternoon was enjoyed by a good turnout of Oasis ladies and partners, Beccie & Annie, Serena & Venetia, Joanna, Katie, Rachel, Lorraine and myself Theresa.
The gardens opened at noon and first things first we sat outside the cafe and ordered teas and coffees, followed by light lunches of various ploughman’s or sausage rolls.
Serena, Venetia and Rachel arrived a little later just as we’d finished eating, we didn’t want to delay walking around the gardens any longer so the rest of us set off in a random direction to explore, non of us bothering with a formal map or plan.
First area of interest was at the garden owners main entrance where they kindly allowed me to park my car.
The garden is actually made up of many individually designed areas which all added to the interesting and pleasant stroll amongst many rare and unusual plants, Annie and Joanna, themselves being keen gardeners were trying to identify anything unusual, I’m not a competent gardener so tried to be smart and used my iplant App – didn’t work 🤨.
Don’t know if these are rare or unusual but I just love the colour.
Katie and Joanna with an unusual water feature and Rachel with a sculpture. Every garden should have one!
Found ourselves at the rear of the owners house, inside the house could be seen many interesting artefacts reflecting the owners amazing imagination and creativity.
All that walking and talking was quite tiring so we headed back to the café and met with Serena and Venetia for refreshments. Serena, Venetia and Rachel found their own way around the garden, Rachel left early but we did eventually meet as a group.
Beccie generously offered to buy all the refreshments, took everyone’s orders but then took Annie’s debit card, so thank you Annie very kind of you! The day ended with a wonderful Oasis tea party in the sunshine.
Hope to see you all in July at Hoveton Hall Gardens
