Review of March Oasis Meeting

Dear Oasis ladies, partners, friends and allies,

It wasn’t a big turnout for our March meeting but it was a very enjoyable evening. Sixteen people enjoyed a ladies food night and it was good to see Steph back after a gap of three years. Welcome back.
The theme for the evening was ‘Red Nose Day’ and Lilly arrived looking every inch the Parisian dame with her red beret and a red nose! Very brave. Carole told some jokes, we had a surprise visit from Pam Ayres who regaled us with the difficulties of inserting a contact lens and the perils of eating too much during lockdown. Lilly entertained us with reminiscences of ‘Round the Horne’, ‘The Navy Lark’ and ‘The Clitheroe Kid’. My goodness we’re showing our age. Lilly was presented with a Comic Relief ‘Mug Full of Funny’ for her efforts.
Everyone donated generously and Kate gave a Swatch watch in Pride colours to be auctioned which raised an additional £40. The grand total for Comic Relief was £93. (I was able to pay this as an individual donation and claim gift aid so the actual amount was £116.25) A magnificent effort – thank you all.
There will be an Oasis meeting on 16th April but I am aware that some may not be available as it is the Easter weekend. However, for those who can, the theme will be ‘Easter Bonnets’ with prizes for the best ‘home made’ bonnet and the ‘most outrageous’ bonnet. So get your thinking bonnets on – you have just under 4 weeks.
Keep an eye on the website nearer the time for more details and to sign up.
Love to you all,
