September Oasis Blog

Well it’s that time already! September has come and is almost gone. What have you been upto this month?

I’ve been to two productions at Norwich Theatre Royal, which I haven’t stepped into for nearly 24 months. I went with my good friend Vicky to see “Grayson Perry” and “Six the musical”. Did I feel safe? Yes and no, but our seats were at or near the end of the isle so that helped. Next on the horizon is The Rocky Horror Show in November.

This month I want to remineness about some of our outings we have had. At Oasis we have always tried to put on a variety of different trips.

Oasis is indebted to Theresa, one of our newest girls for running at least a trip each month, bar lockdowns to a garden. You would think the number of gardens she’s visited she could give Alan Titmarsh a run for his money!

In previous times Julia, who has moved on from Oasis became the trips maestro with outings to Norwich to see the Danish Girl, Rocky Horror and La Cage aux Folles at the Theatre Royal and even a overnight stay in London to see the stage production of Kinky Boots.

Our Christmas meal outings have been organised by myself, Julia, Tina and lately Lilly and hopefully perhaps next Christmas we may be able to resume these.

I’m a great believer in getting out and about. It gives us a confidence and a feeling of normality. Of course there is security in numbers, as I’m sure had one of us had trouble the rest of us would come to their support with of shower of handbags!

Oasis ran its September meeting with again a small number. These are difficult times ahead of us, with many concerned of increased infection rates and hospitalisation. Some of our members are still apprehensive about returning to the group as winter is upon us.

However it was good to get out to visit Oxbrough Hall in late September and we look forwards to more of these.

Beccie x
